I know. It’s been awhile. And this isn’t gonna be a super long post.
Life has been kind of full of surprises. I got asked to be a bridesmaid for my best friend. Soon after, we had my sister’s baby shower. The plan was to leave the country a week after the shower for our honeymoon.
Then COVID-19 hit.
It technically hit the weekend of my sister’s shower but it hadn’t quite hit Spokane yet….. until right after the shower. Immediately, my work asked people to work from home. They sent around the email March 13th. Shea and I were supposed to leave the country the 23rd. Well it shut down pretty much that 2 days before. So instead of sitting on a beach, we were beinge watching Picard on CBS All Access. The girls loved us being home. I would have loved it more if I could run. My back was just not happy and the weather was nasty.
After the honeymoon, I am learning the pros and cons of remote working.
Cons
- My computer chair needs upgrading.
- VPN issues. Enough said.
Pros
- I can do random tiny things when waiting for something to build.
- I’ve seen more of Shea than I have in like forever.
I did have to get 2 dog pillows for the office downstairs. Why? Well I’m a sucker for my girls and watching them only use a blanket was pulling on my heart strings. Especially Kai. Sooo I got them each a pillow. Another good thing is the ability to enjoy the sun when it’s out. The first couple of weeks, it wasn’t out very much. Now that Mother Nature is off her period, it’s nice being able to work from home. In the office, it’s hard to get some Vitamin D. Also, it’s kind of nice having 20 more minutes back. I only live 3 miles away from work (maybe 4) but it’s nice having a little extra time.
I do miss talking to some of my coworkers. However, to the people I do usually talk to, I have ways to see their faces virtually thanks to Microsoft Teams or Slack. There’s always FaceTime or Facebook Messenger for the people who I don’t work with and want to talk to. It’s amazing the options we do have now these days.
I know it’s been a rough transition but I think we will get through it just fine.
