I feel like most of my updates lately have been about work. I apologize about that. It’s definitely been a rough few months, but it’s lightened up. I also feel like I haven’t been posting about running. Honestly, I feel like there hasn’t been much to post about. I’ve done a lot of training. I live on a hill. Anytime I run, it’s straight up hill. FUN TIMES. Not.
Well a couple weeks ago, my first half of the season took place. That was Negative Split Half Marathon. This half was hosted in July in years past. Because of the heat, they moved it to April and changed the course up. The change of year was a smart move, but the course? Holy cow it was brutal. What was lucky for me is the race was in my backyard so I got to challenge most of course without driving. Not to mention, running home meant running uphill for 2 miles. Yaaay. Well, it did help in the long run (no pun intended). I just cussed…every single long run…a lot.
While I was able to train on the course, that did not mean that the course wasn’t hard. It was brutal. It was probably the hardest half I’ve done. I did, however, PR with 3 minutes. It just took every bit of energy and positive motivation I had in those last 3 miles or so.
Bloomsday is next weekend. It’s only a 7.4’er, but it’s definitely not a walk in the park.
In other news, boyfriend and I have gotten a puppy. She’s freakin’ adorable and only 2 years old. She is a Hound mix and is happy. Boyfriend was only
with her for a little bit before he took off to work. I took her for a walk right after. She pooped out (and is still pooped) after that. I’ll take her for a run tomorrow and see how she does. She’s definitely a puller.
We haven’t come up with a name for her yet. Her name at the Humane Society was Rosey Posey, but she doesn’t respond to it (plus my sister HATES that name). SHE’S JUST SO DARN CUTE.
